Here are 3 Rules of Restaurant Marketing Success

Rule #1

“Your marketing cannot look like every other restaurant marketing in your neighborhood. Stand out or stay ignored.”

A small coupon, among 20-35 other pieces of junk offers, doesn’t work. You and your business must stand out. It should look different. It should arrive differently at your guests doors differently and it should be designed to delight them as they are excitedly opening it. Rule #2

“You must give your guests a great reason to come to your restaurant tonight.”

Not a lame reason, not an “OK” reason, a great great reason to pick up a date or their spouse and show up on your restaurant door.

Direct Marketing Magazine did a study and found out that you have exactly 5 to 30 seconds to engage and obtain the attention of your reader! The first thing you must do is make a great offer. Great offers get great response. Lousy offers make lousy ads and receive lousy response. So, you need to know the right way to make an offer. If you don’t make your pitch “relevant” then the reader is gone. The old adage of grabbing attention then creating desire and finally a call to action is still true today. Top copywriters get paid six figures to write offers that connect with the readers. It is part science, part art, and part black magic.

“I just wanted to share with all of you the huge success we’ve had with the Cold Birthday Mailings. For those who don’t know, the company will send gift certificates to people near the restaurant who are not already in your database. They’re valid during the month of their birthday. We had been e-mailing our own certificates, and usually sent out an average of 275 certificates per month. Over the past 4 months, we averaged a 20 percent return of these certificates. This generated average sales of $3789 per month.
We started the Cold Birthday Mailings in January, with 589 certificates sent. In just the first week, 48 of the certificates were redeemed in our restaurant, generating $2867 in sales.
